love is our resistance
Dane Jackson was one of the founding members of the Jackson 5, having hits such as ABC and I'll Be There. Just kidding. He actually didn't do any of that. Really, the life of Mr. Jackson is hardly that exciting. In fact, it's one of the least ordinary stories you could ever hear. Well, at least in the beginning it was. Regina and Landon Jackson were an average couple, living an average life with average jobs in an average neighborhood. He was a therapist for the rehabilitation of recovering addicts and she was a nurse at the Phoenix Children's Hospital. Working around children it was no surprise that Regina would want to have her own. Thus, the birth of a not-so-bouncing baby boy. From the get go he wasn't your average child. Often times he would scowl instead of smile, you wouldn't find him on the playground with the other children and he very rarely spoke. The only thing that you really could see were those piercing blue eyes that had the ability to tear through anyone's mental state. His eyes said a lot about him. So much that he unlocked the knowledge of this at a very young age. With just one look he could get just about anything that he wanted in the world. It was at age seven that he began to notice a strain between his parents. His father would come home later and his mother would spend the majority of her nights a sobbing mess. It was only later on in the year that she would announce to the family that she was expecting another little one. This would prove to be a godsend in opening up his personality, but at the same time the little girl being born wouldn't save the fact that his parents weren't meant to be together.
Once the divorce had been finalized, the two children spent their time split between the homes. Their parents were far more sane and tolerable in separate homes than they ever were together. In fact, the dissolution of that marriage license was one of the things that made the two of them so sound and happy to talk to each other again. Regina would remarry far too soon and Landon would vow to remain a bachelor for the rest of his life. Throughout the years, their lives remained the plain jane type or at least on the outside it did. Fast forwarding into the high school years Dane had grown out of his phases of avoiding any type of human interaction. Freshman year he had started his first band, dabbling in the thought of writing music. For now they just decided to do cover songs, but he had always wanted more. He wanted to be a star just as any kid would have. Over time he had grown into a cocky, self absorbed womanizer with no real regard for other people's feelings. That is unless it was his sister. That little girl had no choice, but to be loved to death by him. She had been the only woman besides his mother that he was able to trust and love. Throughout the years he would go through plenty of girlfriends. There would be a lot of heartache, but never on his end.
Once out of high school he decided that it was time to pick up college. The only problem was what he should do for the rest of his life. At first there were aspirations of doing something great. Something that could really get him far in this world, but instead he wanted to do something fun that he could really just enjoy. That was no use in taking a course subject that would never be put to good use. The product of this decision was a degree in Culinary Arts at the Art Institute of Phoenix. Sure, it wasn't something that he would be getting a job with, but it was something he could enjoy and put to good use. The only real benefit of taking this path was that he got to study the art abroad in Italy for a year. The only bust was that he couldn't speak the language whatsoever and decided to come home over staying in Naples. As he graduated at the age of twenty-one and immediately decided that he wanted to continue to pursue a career in music. While he could easily gather a band, he still needed a form of income. After borrowing a considerable amount of cash from both of his parents, Dane jump started his business in New York City. Piranha Records. It was a more modern twist on High Fidelity, with just as much hostility against those who don't know music.
It didn't take him long to get into the swing of the business life. He even hired on a respectable crew of employees to help him along the way. As time flew by he often times would find himself doing a little more partying that he should have been. Who cared though right? There was nothing holding him back in this world. He had a successful business, friends that could rock with the best of them and a group of party goers that made life that much easier to coast through. It wasn't until the store's tenth year in business that his life would really take a turn and not for the worst. More than anything it was for the better. Alaska Zimmerman was unlike any other girl he had ever met. She was smart, funny and knew a lot more about music than most of the airhead bimbos in this town. The months flew by and every time he attempted to pick this girl up she would reject him. It was always a different reason, but they were always honest. She found more flaws in him than anyone could count on one hand and yet he kept trying. Maybe it was the huge age difference between them. After a few months of pestering and bothering, she finally agreed. To make a long and sappy story short, after a time together the couple parted what he thought was mutually. He decided that he would go back to Phoenix to think things over. Little did he know that he would be moving back too soon and bringing a friend along with him. Although, Dane refuses to give up his partying ways (no matter how illegal they may get) he is still content to settle down with his life, even if he is a shameless flirt. What more is there for Dane? Only time will tell. He just knows that there are a few apologies to make.
